The new 135-acre training campus in Williamson County replaces the aging Austin academy and delivers a comprehensive, purpose-built environment for modern law enforcement training. Designed to accommodate up to 400 trooper trainees simultaneously, the campus includes an administration building, nine classrooms, two dormitories housing up to 560 recruits, a dining hall, and an endurance center.
Specialized training infrastructure includes a dedicated EVOC driving track, a full firearms range, Fortitude Field for physical conditioning, and a state-of-the-art active-shooter training facility that supports realistic scenario-based instruction.
TRC provided structural steel detailing services for approximately 1,455 tons of structural steel, supporting the campus’s large-span training and residential facilities. The detailing scope required close coordination with rigorous quality protocols, including ultrasonic testing of chilled water pipe welds, to maintain construction precision and long-term reliability.
Architecturally, the campus features a standing seam metal roof, cedar wood trim, and a continuous roof overhang with a second-floor balcony designed to shade expansive glazing while maintaining a modern, professional appearance.
