TRC Worldwide Engineering
TRC Worldwide Engineering provided structural engineering services for the new facility, which houses over 800 students across 40 classrooms, along with a gymnasium, cafeteria, and media center.
The structural layout is organized around a central two-story entry lobby that anchors the building and provides clear circulation throughout the classroom wings. These wings were strategically oriented to maximize natural daylight and create opportunities for outdoor learning environments, enhancing both energy performance and student experience.
Structural coordination supported the integration of sustainable systems, including geothermal heating and cooling and interior skylighting, reducing long-term energy demands while improving interior comfort. The building envelope incorporates varied materials and color treatments, while interior planning uses color-coded corridors to simplify wayfinding for younger students.
Designed with long-term growth in mind, the structural system allows for future classroom expansion without disruption to existing operations. Delivered under a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contract, the project was completed approximately six weeks ahead of schedule and $2 million under budget—demonstrating an efficient, well-coordinated approach from design through construction.
