MAHE’s Sports Complex in Bangalore is a six-level facility (G+5 floors) spanning 135,000 sq ft, designed to consolidate world-class sports infrastructure for the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. It houses basketball, badminton, squash, and table tennis courts, indoor cricket nets, a futsal arena, and a fully equipped gymnasium, serving students and faculty alike.
TRC Worldwide Engineering (India) executed the structural engineering, utilizing a hybrid system of reinforced concrete (RC) columns, shear walls, and post-tensioned beams and slabs to allow large, unobstructed spans for flexible courts and athletic spaces. Lateral stability was delivered by ordinary moment-resisting frames with shear walls, while isolated and combined footings form the foundation system.
A standout structural feature is the steel "butterfly" entrance canopy, which provides both architectural distinction and functional coverage. Approximately 850 metric tons of structural steel were incorporated, reflecting the scale and engineering demands of the long-span roof, open interiors, and advanced elevation features.
