The Eugene H. Gadsden Courthouse is a four-story judicial facility with a basement level and underground tunnel connections to the existing judicial complex in downtown Savannah. Designed to house eight Superior Courtrooms and four State Courtrooms, the approximately 155,000–165,000-square-foot building reinforces the County’s long-term judicial capacity while respecting the city’s historic urban fabric.

TRC provided precast engineering services for the structure’s architectural and structural precast systems. The exterior utilizes architectural precast panels carefully detailed to reflect Savannah’s historic Oglethorpe Plan, while the building massing is divided between courtroom and administrative wings connected by a dramatic four-story atrium that re-establishes the historic York Lane corridor.

The precast system was engineered to meet modern seismic requirements and exceed local hurricane wind criteria, supporting both durability and long-term resilience. Off-site fabrication of the precast components contributed to construction efficiency during a challenging pandemic-era supply environment following the project’s 2020 groundbreaking.

The LEED-certified facility incorporates high-efficiency building systems, low-flow plumbing, and energy-efficient lighting, while interior courtrooms feature acoustically tuned finishes achieving an NRC rating of 0.90.
